On the 10th of February 2023, Mr. Lonely, now called Sir Luke, was caught on camera being brutally beaten in his cart for no reason! MR LONELY, BEATEN IN HIS CART FOR NO REASON – Cart Horse Protection Association (Sir Luke’s case is still ongoing!!)
Folks, almost one year later to the day, on 9 February 2024, a very distressing video surfaced of Jay Jay, also a working cart horse, being viciously beaten with a long stick or pole to go faster. Despite the harsh treatment, Jay Jay did not go any faster as he was either tired, hungry, thirsty or maybe even shut down. Inspector Sephule and Jolize rushed out to find them.

Upon locating Jay Jay, Inspector Jolize encountered fierce resistance from the handlers, who adamantly refused to unhitch Jay Jay and resorted to intimidation tactics. After a tense standoff, Inspector Jolize remarkably managed to seize the halter. During the altercation though, her cell phone dropped out of her pocket! One of the handlers grabbed the cell phone, saying if she does not let Jay Jay go, they won’t give back her phone! With only one thing on her mind, Inspector Jolize turned around and loaded Jay Jay into her horse box. At that point, Inspector Sephule arrived to assist Inspector Jolize.
When Inspector Jolize arrived back at clinic, knowing Jay Jay was now safe, she just broke down emotionally. This terrifying ordeal for them both was very, very real! After some sugar water, allot of deep breaths, Inspector Jolize got right back into the ‘saddle’ making sure Jay Jay was comfortable before she finally trucked him to the safety of our Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre.

Emotionally exhausted, Inspector Jolize carries on making sure Jay Jay is comfortable for the ride to safety at our Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre.
Jay Jay was clearly very, very hungry. Thank goodness we always have fresh Lucerne for horses in need.
