Adoption Programme
Horses that are permanently confiscated or signed over into our care, are rehabilitated and placed into our Adoption Programme.
Our Adoption Process:
- Step 1: Come and meet the horse you are interested in adopting. Contact Carmen on 082 612 6966 to make an appointment.
- Step 2: Complete an Application to Adopt and pay a R250.00 non-refundable deposit.
- Step 3:If we feel that you are suited to the horse you wish to adopt and we have received your application and deposit, we will conduct a pre-home check
- Step 4: On approval of the pre home check, an adoption fee is payable and you must sign an Adoption Agreement.
- Step 5: Regular post home checks are carried out every 3-6 months.
Our Adoption Programme is managed from the Recovery & Rehabilitation Centre and we have horses needing loving and responsible homes.

Horses for Adoption
Alice in Wonderland
No words or photo does this beautiful girl justice. She has to be seen to comprehend her beauty and grace. Alice is an athletically built Appaloosa type mare with a playful and kind nature.
Applejack
Applejack, has the fiery heart of brave, fearless pony king who has conquered many Empires and commanded a legion in his short existence.
Blondie
Blondie is a very laid back. She keeps to herself and doesn’t care much to fall in with the crowd. You will find her resting peacefully with some of the other ponies who shares in the same beliefs lounging in the shade.
Bobby
Sweet little Bobby was confiscated for neglect. He is still on the road to recovery, but will make a lovely child’s pony with his wonderful kind temperament.
Caesar Boy
Caesar Boy was retired after being permanently booked off for injuries to his legs.
Clara
Clara is a sweet old lady who would make a lovely companion.
Copper Penny
Copper Penny is absolutely green and will need a lot of handling from an experienced horse person. She has a lot of saddler blood and although flashy, can be cheeky.
Daisy May
Daisy is a darling of a pony and calmness just surrounds her. Her unique colouring always captures the eye and if you look just a bit closer she holds another beautiful surprise, a striking beautiful blue eye.
Dora
Dora is only a youngster and has already had a rough time. She will need a long time to gain confidence in people.
Fred
Fred is a total legend with huge potential to become a great all-rounder with the right guidance. He is definitely a pony who will offer you years of joy and happiness.
Ghost
Ghost came to us as a skinny, overworked pony and has since blossomed into a beautiful, proud and loving boy. He is a mix breed pony type and his beautiful Dapple Steel Grey coat grabs the eye while his soft and loving way captures the heart.
Hennessy
Hennessy is going to take the Western Cape by storm. He is totally down for rustling your pockets for treats and he will be an amazing horse if brought on properly.
Ice
This little button mushroom came to us in a very sorry state indeed, all skin and bones and quite depressed. Ice is slowly coming out of his shell and showing us what a willing little fella he is.
Inspector
He is generally sweet, but as he was only very recently gelded, he can still show some stallion mannerisms.
Jaffy
Jaffy is a very sweet middle-aged lad who just loves kisses and being faffed over in the stable. He is not keen on working hard and will need an experienced handler.
Jasmine
Jasmine is quite the joker. A mischievous and playful girl who was born at the CHPA center. She has the sweetest personality and will definitely grow into a fantastic children’s pony.
Kassifa
She has beautiful ground manners and loves being “faffed over”. Due to an earlier accident in her life, which broke her withers, cannot be ridden, but will make a lovely sweet-natured companion.
Lady Lawrie
Lady Lawrie is only a baby. Her gorgeous mommy Blondie is also up for adoption.
Lily
Little Lily is a real poppet, but she can be little on the shy side when you first meet her, but please don’t let this put you off.
Mercy
Do you believe in love at first sight? Because look no further, you have just found your forever love on four legs. Mercy is not your typical chestnut mare, she simply loves meeting new people and is incredibly friendly.
Miriam
Miriam is an introvert. She likes her own space and is a very gentle lady.
Miss Scheepers
This little mare is has a great personality and lots of potential but she is a proper madam and will need an experienced rider / handler.
Nancy
Nancy has been described as “a bit sassy sometimes”. She has a kind, soft nature and would do well with a lot of love and affection.
Olivia
Olivia is Sara‘s last foal. She is a real poppet who has never worked in the industry. A beautiful blank canvas ready for her first steps into the world of riding and adventure.
Oumie
This old lady has been around long enough to know what she wants. She would make a lovely companion.
Perfect Timing
This old boy has had a tough life, but it didn’t break his spirit. He has a soft, kind nature and would suit a light rider, or make a companion.
Poppy
Poppy is as pretty as a flower and is quite a remarkable gal considering her rough start in life, but she is as forgiving as they come and would love dearly to have that special someone to call her own.
Romeo
Romeo was found lying down in a field earlier in 2017. He was signed over and brought to the R&R to recover. He is now healthy enough to go to his forever home.
Sara
Sara will be a good companion but due to slack pasterns, cannot do ridden work.
Scarlett
Scarlett is a very confident girl whose favourite pastime is playing in the paddock with her friends. You will note, she is very unique looking with her beautiful ice blue eye.
Shagan
Shagan might only measure up to 12.2HH but he fancies himself a 17HH stud. This boy has got so much spunk and boldness in him just waiting to be unlocked.
Sir Lancelot
Sir Lancelot is a saddler who was signed over to CHPA. In his short life he has already been handed from pillar to post, but remains a sweet, loving boy.
Smart
Smart , fondly called Smarty or Smarty boy is quite the stunner. He has presence and grabs your attention with his big friendly eyes and kind face.
Sonja
Sonja is a beautiful Bright Bay with a stunning white stripe and big brown eyes. She has big presence for her size and the attitude to match her looks. She truly is a real showstopper and a proper madam.
Sparton
Sparton is a one man horse, he chooses his friends carefully but once he has gained your trust, you will be his ‘bestie’ for life.
Surprise
Surprise, or Oom Surprise as he’s been known for the past two years, has been playing uncle to the many foals on the stud farm where he lived, always being on hoof to offer invaluable life advice and guidance to whomever shared his paddock.
Thunder
Thunder loves being the centre of attention. He doesn’t always respect the space of others but he has a good heart and loves attention and affection.
Tiger
His name might sound intimidating but this beautiful boy just wants love and attention. Tiger has big friendly eyes and perky ears always listening for something interesting.
Violet
Violet has a very gentle nature and gets on with everyone.
