Ongoing education of cart horse owners and drivers at grassroots level is vital to the welfare of the working cart horses. The regular workshops are hosted by the Cart Horse Team, led by Chief Inspector Diana Truter where education and training is given on all aspects of horse management and care. Topics include controlled breeding, working in high temperatures, effects on legs when horses are worked too hard and standards of harness and carts. This is done through discussion, Power Point presentations and video clips. This is also an opportunity for us to point out the good and bad habits of each owner, discuss problems faced and work out solutions together.
