Once again the hearts and hands of our wonderful supporters opened up this year on the 100th celebration of Madiba. Winter on the Cape Flats is no picnic and horses and humans alike often live in wet, muddy conditions that make it very hard to keep warm.
We decided to do something about it this year in a meaningful way. Four owners were chosen and some stables were rebuilt completely while others simply needed a coat of creosote to stop the horses from eating their wooden stables.
Volunteers started showing up before 8:00 in the morning and worked until well after lunch time. The work was physical and hard but everyone put shoulder to the wheel and hammered, sawed and sweated until four stables were warm and dry.
We would like to thank each and every person who showed up and came to help to make our day such a success!
