There are loads of ways in which you would be able to help CHPA - please see below for our current volunteer ‘wishlist’

Media Liaison
With fast action and effective implementation, specific and particular exciting events can be easily broadcast to the greater community, resulting in wider exposure and, increased funding for our working horses. The right person for this portfolio would be able to forge a network of contacts within the local media industry as well as being available to channel event details and photographs to the best media company, as and when it happens. This portfolio falls into the category of “consultant volunteer” which means that the person managing the portfolio would simply give of their time and expertise as and when required rather than at regular monthly committee meetings.

HR portfolio
CHPA is very blessed to have a very experienced consultant, Hein Liebenberg currently in this portfolio. At present,CHPA needs a Deputy HR volunteer consultant who is able to step in and assist with HR issues and queries if and when required, when Hein is away on business.

Volunteer Portfolio
CHPA is blessed with many willing volunteers, some of whom prefer physical work to admin work. The right person for this portfolio would be in a position to establish and maintain an updated database of volunteer details as well as liaise with both our Events Co-ordinator and specific volunteers with regard to particular events. This portfolio has flexibility in terms of attendance of monthly Committee meetings.

Clear a field
There is a large field at the back of the Epping premises which needs to be cleared. Our fence will then be extended thanks to the generosity of the Department of Agriculture. CHPA aims to  create more paddocks which will enable us to treat more horses and build a training track where new cart horse owners/drivers can be taught the basic rules of the road.

Build a shelter!
We need more shelters built for the paddocks at both the Epping Treatment Site as well as the Recovery & Rehabilitation Centre.  The winds in Somerset West can be terrible in winter and the horses need protection against the elements!

Help us maintain the R & R Centre
Large properties need extensive labour and maintenance, if you would be willing to offer your time to assist us in Somerset West please contact Joyce via email.

Place our collection tins
Collection tins brought in an amazing R13 234 in May 2010.  If you come across a store without a CHPA tin, please consider asking the owner or manager if they would be prepared to keep one at their checkout. Alternatively, keep a collection tin at your home – Your spare change will make a difference!  We sell Christmas cards annually at various outlets, please show your support! If you would like to assist us in the sales of our Christmas cards please contact us.
